The north has been set on the path of bitter argument and rivalry by the decision of the ruling All Progressive Congress its decision to zone the president of the Senate and the speaker of the house of representative in the ninth National Assembly to the north.
The public pronouncement by the national leader of the All Progressive Congress that any member that won’t obey the party’s position should be prepared to leave the party sparked rage among members of the party across the south-east, northeast, both west and north central.

The bitterness was most prominent from the northern Nigeria where the various aspirants have defied the party leadership to continue with their various campaigns for the office of the speaker and the Senate president in the ninth National Assembly.
The president Muhammadu Buhari on like the national leader of the party Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu begged the elected lawmakers on the platform o the ruling All Progressive Congress to abide by the decision and wisdom of the and stay united in order to avoid a repeat of the 2015 National Assembly Leadership episode.
The national chairman of the party Adams Oshiomhole also reiterated the decision of the party on the adoption of Rt Hon Gbajabiamila and Senator Ahmed Lawan as the speaker and Senate president for the ninth assembly respectively.
Northern leadership of the ruling All Progressive Congress have been coming together to form diverse alignment and realignment for the purpose of achieving their leadership goals in the ninth National Assembly.

The North Central Elders Forum Endorsed thé candidacy of Hon Idris Wase for the office of speaker of the ninth National Assembly. Consequently, the state chairmen of the ruling All Progressive Congress from the north-central zone and the governors from north-central states after due consultations have thrown their weight behind the decision of the party to support Rt Hon Gbajabiamila and Senator Ahmed Lawan for the office of speaker and president of the Senate.
The north was further divided when various interest groups from the north-central and northeast throw their weight behind Senator Danjuma Goje against the decision of the party. The stakeholders include the North East Elders Forum. APC National Youth Caucus, Borno Discussion Council. Gombe Political Assurance. North East Youth Awareness For Good Governance and the latest Arewa Youths Awareness Forum AYAF
AYAF issued a statement thus: we are alarmed by the dictatorial and the insensitive ploy by the APC leadership for foisting on the two chambers of the National Assembly.

We are also concerned by the fact that northern interests are being compromised with great implications for the future of the region we also note with grave concern the undemocratic posture of some party leadership which is already structuring a game plan for APC 2023 presidential primaries and we note with delight the quiet but firm resistance of APC members who will not concede to being used for such grave plans under the facade of party interests
We urge lawmakers of northern extraction to resist any attempt by the party leadership to use them against the overall interest of the north. It is sad to hear that house and senate committee positions are already being shared at Bourdillion.it is risky for president Muhammadu Buhari, the north and the entire Federation for one man to be in control of the Vice President, the ruling party chairman, speaker of the National Assembly and Senate president.
