FRESH JUBILATION! INEC Reveals Plans To Give Davido’s Uncle Adeleke Certificate Of Return As Nigerians Blast Oshiomhole Over Comment On PDP

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reacted to the rumours making the rounds suggesting that it has issued certificate of return to Senator Ademola Adeleke.

The electoral umpire clarified the issue and further revealed when it can issue the certificate to Adeleke. According
to Daily Post, INEC said it can issue a certificate of return to Sen
Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) only if the
embattled governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola fails to appeal the
judgment of the tribunal that sacked him within 21 days.

Recall
that the Osun State governorship election petition tribunal sitting in
Abuja had last week Friday nullified the election of Oyetola of the All
Progressives Congress, APC nad declared Adeleke winner of the 2018
governorship election. Justice
Peter Obiora who delivered the majority judgment of the tribunal
ordered INEC to immediately issue a fresh certificate of return to
Adeleke as the lawful and validly elected governor of Osun State, after declaring the September 27, 2018 re-run election as illegal.

However, rumours went round the social media with pictures suggesting INEC issued a certificate of return to Adeleke.

Reacting,
INEC National Commissioner and chairman, Information and Voter
Education Committee, Barr Festus Okoye debunked the rumours.

“The commission has not issued any new certificate in relation to Osun State.
Section 143(1) of the Electoral Act gives a candidate whose election is
set aside a period of 21days from the date of the decision to appeal
against such a decision,” Okoye said while explaining why the commission
can’t issue a certificate of return to Adeleke.

“The person is entitled
to remain in office pending the determination of the appeal. The
commission will only issue the certificate if appeal is not lodged
within 21 days. The commission has not issued any new certificate in relation to Osun State,” Okoye told Leadership newspaper.

In
another development, the National chairman of the ruling All
Progressive Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has never hid
dislike for the former ruling party and now the main opposition party in
Nigeria.

The
Ex-Edo State Governor and now National Cahirman of the ruling party
criticises the main opposition party at any given occasion he deems fit
to do so. He would go on and on to reveal some things the party allegedly did in the past when it was still in power.

In
a latest development, Oshiomhole has said that his party is not ready
to share power with the opposition in the National Assembly.

According
to Information Nigeria, Oshiomhole added that APC has learnt from what
happened in 2015 when Bukola Saraki and Dogara emerged as leaders in the
National Assembly against the wish of the Party.

His statement actually attracted reactions from Nigerians who expressed themselves.

Nigerians while replying him have asked the former labour union to brace up as PDP would soon reclaim its mandate.

Recall
that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC),
Oshiomhole had earlier said that the party will not let what happened in
2015 to happen again in the 9th National Assembly.

The
former Edo state governor said this on Monday, as APC members met with
House of Representatives- Elects, to familiarize themselves with the new
leaders.

According
to Oshiomhole, the party will not share powers with the People’s
Democratic Party,PDP in the incoming National Assembly.

He
went on to give reasons to justify his stand on the issue which is
attracting serious attention from the public as the National Assembly
Leadership election is just around the corner where the ruling party hopes to consolidate on its victories so far.

Oshiomhole
said that their aim is to get a legislature that will lend its support
in providing good governance to Nigerians – While adding that the
President and party leadership will be consulted to come up with an appropriate zoning formula that all members and the party, will support.
