Igwe Nick Obi, the traditional ruler of Nnobi, one of the key towns that make up Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State and a foremost Oil and Gas magnate; and Comrade Chris Ibenegbu, the Assistant Secretary of Nnobi Welfare Organisation (NWO) have warned the Ndigbo on the dangers of boycotting the next month February general election in the country.
They advised them that they should come out en masse and vote in the election adding that boycotting it would have a disastrous effect on their future and welfare in the Nigeria nation.
Obi and Ibenegbu spoke during the last Ofala festival and 86th birthday ceremony of the traditional ruler of Nnobi held last Wednesday in the town.
Igwe Nick Obi said, “The Igbos should participate fully in the election to vote in candidates they feel that will represent them well, boycotting or developing apathy to the election will not help us; let everybody come and vote for whoever they feel will rule them well.”
On his part Comrade Ibenegbu noted, “Every Igbo son or daughter that is eligible should make sure that he or she voted, boycotting the election will be a bad omen for the Igbos, let us wake up and do the needful.”
Obi and Ibenegbu commended the general peace in Nnobi town and urged the warring factions in the community to close ranks to move the town forward and attract development to the area.
They expressed gratitude to Chief Willie Obiano, the state governor, for appointing some of their people in his cabinet as well as developing the town.
